Ginger is widely used agri- product for concoction of alternative medicine for cough and colds. If you are up for immediate relief, do not put sugar. You might not like the taste more if I suggest drops of citrus ad a drop of white flower liniment.

Brilliant. I almost look forward to getting sick so that I can try this concoction. My grandfather had a similar recipe, but with no coconut oil and no ginger. Thank you for this! I hope I can avoid the OTC crap from now on.

I am not against going into CVS, RiteAid, Duane Reade or any local pharmacy to get over the counter medicine when I have a cold. Tylenol, NyQuil, Theraflu...bring it on. I will take just about anything to feel better. Last time I was sick, just about 2 weeks ago none of these worked. I was in pain, I couldn't sleep, my tonsils hurt and I couldn't swallow my food. It even hurt to cry. I am lucky enough to be friends with Jackie and she gave me the recipe for what I called her "Special Brew." I made the tea that night and was able to SLEEP! The next morning I was at 60%. I brought the ingredients with me to work and had some there as well. By day 2 I was back at 80%. I even made the tea for another sick friend and although they didn't enjoy the taste as much as I did they could not deny that it made them feel much better. So thank you Jackie and I promise no more Tylenol, NyQuil, Theraflu, or any other over the counter yuck again.
