The message of Food, Inc. and related movies/books/articles is clear- we need to take back control of our food system and protect our nation from mass-produced poison foods. One way to do this is on a personal/household level is to change the kinds of food you buy, usually to organic/fresh and local options. Unfortunately, doing this is usually not an option for the poor and those who live in areas with sub-par access to healthy food. One of the reasons the US has such a large overweight/obese population is the availability of low-cost processed foods at large retailers and national chain grocers/restaurants. If you’re really serious about this issue, it’s important to do more than just change your eating and food purchasing habits. Be a good steward of your resources and be thankful that you CAN afford to make such a change, then do SOMEthing to support the cause at large. Call a local representative, get involved with a local healthy food organization, help the poor and disadvantaged in your community- be resourceful and PAY IT FORWARD! Of course, always be mindful to always keep an open mind and learn more about whatever you’re interested in.

I will recommend not to hold off until you get enough amount of cash to buy different goods! You should take the business loans or just car loan and feel yourself free

Food Inc. was just aired tonight on public TV. This is the second time I saw it. It was hard to watch the animals in the slaughter houses. How do we get people to stop buying unhealthy food if it’s cheaper? How do we get USDA the power they need to do their job? Who are these people who stand in the way of a human being’s right to eat healthy food? Why is making money more important than people’s lives? How can we, the common people, get our power back to change our lives for the better? It was unnerving to see how many former Monsanto officers were working for our federal government such as the FDA. It seems that we are being controlled more and more, and our freedoms are being thrown by the wayside.

I just watched Food Inc. and cannot believe what I saw and heard with my own eyes and ears. With Obama it is even worse because of his health “death” care mess! Lobbyists ought to be outlawed….they are evil! The whole world, even church, is all about greed and money! I’m going to look into eating organic, but it is much more expensive! Thanks for you excellent blog!

outstanding blog I am going to discuss your ideas as a precursor to showing the film to my 9th grader health students as a way (I hope) for them to understand a bit better the political BS that goes on behind the closed doors and the power that lobbys have in protecting industry at the expense of we, the people. thank you.

Awesome movie. In USA there is a rule: “fat people are too poor to eat good food”. If I will eat in McDonald’s or BurgerKing I will die fat and young
People eat organic food, especially fruits and vegetables. But don’t be vegetarians, your body also needs meet. Eat what ever you want natural food and you will never be fat. It’s the best diet.

Can you tell me which states have laws that protect photos of slaughter houses? I am unable to find any laws or proposed laws of that sort. I am doing a project for school and would like to incorporate such information into my paper if such information is available.

Great review, I just watched the movie, I had to buy it because it wasn’t playing in my area and you would think in California, it would be somewhere close. I’m going to write my take also and maybe maybe video it on youtube.
It was good to see Walmart making some good alternative choices for the lower income community who think they don’t have options. I thought it was so sad to see a family deciding it was better to get soda and candy and chips or the dollar menu than fruits and vegetables. What I have found is that since I haven’t been buying junk, my food bill is actually less! All that junk, just makes you hungry. Thanks for your review.

I did so food inc and it has inspired me so much to change the way that i eat. I thought i was eating healthy before but until i saw this movie do i really know how unhealthy i was actually eating. I am trying to spread the word so much to everyone i know to see this movie, everyone should do the same

Guess WHY Washington doesn’t give a tinker’s damn about what citizens are
eating? THEY –all of them eat ONLY (grass fed – mountain springs) 150 per lb KOBE beef/ fruits – veg from JAPAN.
